Takcs Quartet Overview
The Takcs Quartet, a distinguished ensemble with a rich history, is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. This renowned group has garnered significant recognition, including a feature in The New York Times and the cover of Strad magazine. In 2025, they released two highly praised albums for Hyperion Records, showcasing compositions such as ?Flow? by Ngwenyama and a collection of piano quintets by Dvo?k and Price. The quartet is also set to perform ?Sonnet of an Emigrant,? a new work by Cathy Milliken, in Australia.
Comprising Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes on violins, Richard O'Neill on viola, and Andrs Fejr on cello, the Takcs Quartet is engaged in various projects across the United States, including performances of Mozart viola quintets and a new string quartet titled NEXUS by Clarice Assad. Their North American tour includes prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and Duke University.
As Associate Artists at London's Wigmore Hall, the quartet will present multiple concerts featuring works by Haydn, Debussy, and Beethoven. They have been Artists in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder since 1986 and continue to contribute to music education through summer seminars at the Music Academy of the West.
